Possible Post Medieval (16th century) chafing dish rim or trivet: The copper alloy chafing dish rim is fragmentary and is asymmetric in plan. The fragment has a vertical rectangular protrusion which is sub-rectangular. In section it is trapezoidal. One edge of the projection is vertical, the other, at the mid point is angled at 45 degrees. The lower edge is a broken edge, but not recently. The interior has a horizontal ridge with a smooth interior of the vessel. The exterior has no moulding and has horizontal striations over it. Roman copper-alloy enamelled incomplete seal box lid dating to the second to third century AD. The lid is incomplete and formed of a flat plate, which was probably originally teardrop (piriform, leaf shaped) in shape. The hinhe element of the lid is the portion which is missing. Instead the portion has a rounded tip. The front of the lid is decorated with a a central circular cell, which now has no based, and which is within two concentric cells which have traces of light blue enamel. Possible Roman to Medieval mount such as edging or binding for an object. The fragment comprises a hollow, hemispherical strip of copper ally. In plan, the strip is sub rectangular with a slightly concave edge and the opposite edge is slightly convex. The interior has traces of a white substance which is probably solder. The exterior has an abraded light green patina. The fragment of edging measures 27.6mm in length, a maximum of 8.34mm in width and is up to 3.97mm thick. It weighs 2.21 grams. A complete copper alloy strap end of probable Late Roman date, of Hawkes and Dunning's type V A (1961, fig. 23). The strap end has been broken into two pieces, this break is probably quite recent as the edges are crisp. The strap end has a trapezoidal shaped butt which is formed by a block, which in profile has a slot to allow for the strap to be positioned. There are two copper alloy rivets remain which would have held the strap in place. The body of the strap end is a pear or droplet shape whose tip has an integral square block.
