A late 1st/ early 2nd Century AD, Dolphin brooch. The brooch presents with a cylindrical wings which are pierced to hold the axis bar. The body of the brooch has a humperd hemispherical cross section with the bow tapering towards the foot which has a trapezoidal catch plate.

A copper alloy anthropomorphic mount in the form of a human head. The reverse is flat and undecorated, the obverse has a semi circular top edge, "twisted rope" type hairline. The eyes are simple perforations, small sculpted nose and the mouth is almost invisible, maybe due to wear. There is a slightly curved line for the the chin, which place the face in high relief.
Possibly Roman.

CORONER'S REPORT
Description of find
A damaged and distorted Roman silver finger-ring with very slender plain tapered hoop, narrow plain shoulders and a tiny flattened oval bezel, now dished through damage. The uneven surface of the bezel (not the remains of an inscription) may be the remains of degraded solder for a (now missing) appliqué.
Date: probably 1st-2nd century AD.
Dimensions: maximum length 23.6 mm. bezel width 5.3 mm.
Weight: 2.4 g.

A 2nd/3rd Century AD Roman Knee brooch. Cylindrical head with end plates to the wings, possible head loop remains as 2 knobs. The end plates are pierced to hold the axis of the bar with the pin in place. The bow is arched, has a 'd' shaped section and a flat forward facing foot. Small trapezoidal catchplate.

A Roman Hod Hill, 1st Century AD brooch. The head is folder over with a section cut out for the junction with the pin. The profile is a flat taper which expands to a trapezoidal bow with a deep incised groove. The foot begins with a horizontal groove. The catchplate is triangular in section. There is tinning visible on the bow.

An incomplete Roman dolphin brooch, dating to the early 1st Century AD to late 2nd Century AD. Semi circular wings with vertical rib decoration with a worn hook. The bow has a d section tapering to a pointed foot with a small triangular catchplate. Length of the brooch is 50 mm and the width across the wings is 21 mm. Weight of the brooch is 5 grammes.
