The body is oval and domed, with a short neck and an unnaturally small head with a beak at one end. Mouldings on the front of the breast form a pointed oval on each side of the neck and breast. The head is slightly damaged, but there are circular concavities for eyes, one containing a trace of another material, perhaps glass. A small probable mount of Roman date. The piece is drop-shaped in plan, with a moulded knob at each end. The upper surface is slightly convex and the underside is concave. Extending from the centre of the underside is an integral rivet of sub-square section. The mount is very similar to BH-D710F4 which has been given a tentative Roman date based on similarities to BH-38B407, recorded as a 'mount'. A parallel for BH-38B407 was found in excavations at Wanborough, Wiltshire (see Anderson et al., 2001, p. 85, no. 52), in a 4th to early 5th century context, and is recorded as a 'strap-end'.

A cast copper alloy mount of Roman date. It is rectangular in plan, terminating at one end with a crescent. The crescent is flat, but the rest of the mount is D shaped in section and is decorated with two transverse incised lines at each end. On the reverse are two integral fungiform rivets. The lunular mount has many Roman features such as the fungiform rivets and the crescent shape, so Roman date is suggested even though no close parallel has been found on the database. Another mount which is more complex but has some of the same features is SOM-54A823. The metal has a dark grey patina.

The object comprises if a piece of sheet metal, a rectangular bar and two rivets, one of which with a flat head. The sheet is rectangular with one rounded end. The straight end may be a break, so the piece may have been symmetrical originally. There is a damaged hole, or a notch in the apex of the rounded end.
