Roman copper alloy umbonate brooch of 2nd century AD date. The brooch is incomplete, with a little over half surviving. The brooch was near-circular and utilised a hinge with twin lugs placed against the edge of the reverse, and possibly originally with a terminal chain loop . The face has a recessed concentric groove near the edge before the domed central panel containing small triangular cells filled with alternating red and blue enamel. At the top of the dome is a small perforation, which presumably took a central boss. No remnants of lugs are discernible on the surviving edge.

Roman copper alloy bow brooch of unusual design, probably a derivative of a Headstud type and dating to the early 2nd century AD. The only decoration on the head is a short rectangular cast rib and a moulded oval at the junction with the bow, in place of the headstud. The Bow is at a right angle to the he…

Roman copper alloy plate brooch of 2nd century AD date. The brooch is lozenge shaped and flat with lugs at each corner. The lugs are dished and circular and the surviving smaller side lug contains remnants of red enamel. The lozenge panel has a recessed area which would have also held enamel; a small trace of red enamel survives in a protected area. A raised circle defines a circular cell at the centre of the brooch. The rear of the brooch is plain and the short catch-plate survives at the rear of the larger lug.

Lower bow and foot fragment from a Roman bow brooch of indeterminate type. The lower bow has an oval section and was decorated with a raised central rib and decorated with short incised transverse lines. The bow has a gentle curve and tapers to the foot. The eroded remnants of the catch-plate are discernible on the rear of the bow. The curved profile of the fragment suggests a Colchester-derivative brooch, perhaps of Dolphin or Polden Hill type.
