Copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill dating AD 75-200. It has rearward facing lugs on either end of the wings that would have held the pin axes bar, but one wing is truncated resulting in the loss of the axe bar, spring and pin. The head of the bow has a tapering triangular panel with expanded shoulders. In the centre of the head is a crest with a loop at the back that would have held the external cord of the spring. the remainder of the bow is undecorated and the catch plate on the reverse is complete.

Roman copper alloy trumpet brooch that has an oval head plate surmounted by a truncated loop. On the reverse are two rearward facing perforated lug that would have held the spring support bar which is now missing. The bow emanates from the front of the head plate but is truncated at its apex resulting in the loss of most of the bow.

This is a sword assemblage consisting of two complete Roman long swords of the type called a spatha together with items that would be appropriate for complete scabbard and sword belt fittings.
The assemblage consists of:
A) Sword 1: A complete roman long sword with scabbard chape still attached at the tip. Copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill dating AD 75-200. The head of the bow has a tapering triangular panel with expanded shoulders. In the centre of the head are two raised lines that converge at the apex of the bow forming a V-shaped crest with a third raised line in the centre that has a loop at the top for the external cord. The lower part of the bow is truncated resulting in the loss of the catchplate.

Copper alloy Aucissa brooch that has rolled tubular wings that would have held the pin axis bar, there is a slot in the rear for the pin, which is now missing. The bow is a sup-rectangular strip gradually narrows to the bottom. The face is decorated with two narrow grooves that run down either side and a double groove that runs down the centre. The lower part of the bow has been truncated.

Copper alloy Bow and Fantail type brooch with a Polden Hill style spring mount. This has rearward facing lugs (both now broken) on either end of the wings that would have held the spring axes bar. On the top of the head is a broken loop that would have held the external cord of the spring.
On the front of the head are two projecting rectangular tabs that have upturned corners. Below the fantail expands outwards and is decorated with a central double grove and surrounded by a border. The catch plate on the reverse is complete.
