A late Roman copper-alloy nail cleaner strap end, dating to c.AD 300 - 400. It consists of a cylindral phallus and flattened leaf shaped blade, a suspension loop is in the centre. The phallic end consists of an elongated cylindrical shaft that terminates in a flattened oval tip. In the centre of the nail cleaner is a flattened semi-circular knop, a testicle sits either side of the loop. The blade of the cleaner is 'leaf' shaped, widening just below the shoulders, then narrowing to two-pronged tip. A longitudinal groove runs down the centre of the front face. Length: 5…

An incomplete late Roman copper-alloy nail cleaner strap end, dating to c.AD 350 - 410. The main body is lozengiform/elongated hexagon in plan and rectangular in section. One face is decorated with a peacock facing a sun. Both ends of the object terminate in old worn beaks. The otherside is undecorated. An incomplete Roman copper-alloy strap end nail cleaner, dating to c.AD 370 - 410. The back plate remains. The object is almost lozengiform in plan, one end terminates in a blunted point, the other flares outwards. At the narrowed section are two incomplete projecting loops, fragments remain of both. A late Roman copper alloy amophora shaped strap end c.AD 300 - 400. The strap end is amphora-shaped in plan, with a flared open end and an oval body that terminates in a globular projection. There are two ‘handles’ that connect the open end with the body. On one side the body is decorated with a boarder of chevrons and divided in the centre by a vertical row of chevrons. The attachment end has two separate circular holes to support now missing rivets. A complete late Roman copper-alloy strap end AD 250-410. The strap end consists of a bar of copper alloy, with concave sides in plan, expanding out into a sub-lozengiform terminal, further delineated by incised, oblique grooves converging towards the attachment end. The attachment end, also delineated by incised grooves, this time converging towards the terminal, takes the form of a D-shaped attachment loop, with straight upper edge.
