A cast Roman zoomorphic copper-alloy lock pin, dating to c.AD 43 - 410. The object is comprised of a tapering rectangular shaft, the tapered end terminates in a hook, the wider end has a zoomorphic terminal in the form of a griffins head. The zoomorphic terminal is wider than the shaft, the head is rounded with a pair of triangular ears projecting from the top. The main body of the object is of flat-section, with rounded shoulders, below which the straight sides converge towards a pair of forked points. The vertical neck, decorated with a series of chevron-shaped grooves, extends smoothly into an incomplete apex loop, which is set at a right angle to the body. An incomplete Roman copper-alloy silvered Colchester derivative, rear hook brooch, dating to AD 43-65. The wings, bow and catchplate remain, the spring pin is missing. In plan, the brooch is T-shaped, and the bow is D-shaped in cross section. The bow head is hump-like, and angular (comma shaped) in profile, with cylindrical wings projecting from either side at the top. An incomplete Roman copper-alloy brooch, dating to AD 43 - 100. The lower part of the bow and fragment of catchplate remain. The upper part of brooch, wings and pin missing. The lower bow is sub triangular, it is decorated with a series of moulded lines forming almost three petals, the central divided by a central vertical rib. An incomplete Roman copper-alloy knee brooch, dating to AD 100 - 200. The brooch is almost complete, the spring pin termminates in an old break. The brooch is comprised of short hollow cylindrical wings which are undecorated, at the top are two stump fragments which would have initially formed a headloop. The wings house a spring pin. The bow projects outwards from the centre of the wings, it is sub-triangular and tapers towards a flared triangular foot.
