Fragment of a cast copper alloy Roman brooch of Polden Hill type, c. 80-120AD. The foot and spring mechanism is missing and there has been some loss of surface. A broad groove runs down the length of the bow, the lateral wings are set on raised panels, their undersides are hollowed to accommodate the coiled spring which would have been secured by a bar through the end-plates. Unidentified object, c. AD 50-1950, this object may have been a bracelet but no parallels have been found and it could be a recent machine part. The object consists of a ring, now distorted by but with an original diameter of about 53mm. For most of its circumference the ring has a 3.2mm diameter, circular section but at two opposed points it is expanded to form 6.7 x 4.2mm plates, the wider face being in the plane of the ring. Romano-Celtic votive mount, perhaps the top from a priest's sceptre, cast copper alloy with blue glass eyes. The object is in the form of a bull's head with a bird on the tip of its nose and a human face behind the head. Cast copper alloy figurine of a fish of probable Roman date. The fish is carefully executed with clearly marked features: the eyes are large, represented by a 3.2mm diameter x 1.4mm deep hole in which there is a smaller central cavity. Around the eyes are annular recesses which appear to the been divided by radial ribs. It is possible that the eyes were decorated with enamel inlay. Behind the eye are curved double grooves defining a rib marking the gill cover. Further lines in front of the eyes sweep around to converge on the top of the head. The underside of the wings is hollow to accomodate a coiled spring secured by an axial pin held in perforated plates at the ends of the wings. Each of the wings bears two transverse mouldings flanked by narrow grooves and a deeper, wide groove. The mouldings bear incised, transverse lines.
