The decoration is incised and consist of two circumferential grooves, one down each side. Between them are two rows of crescentic marks, probably executed with a curved ended chisel. It has been suggested that finger rings like this were made from re-used bracelets but this is fel…

Cast copper alloy finger ring with an gilded, oval bezel (15.3 x 8.9mm). This is now corroded and damaged but bears, incised into its face what appears to be a draped human figure. Around the outer edge of the bezel is line of close-set triangular impressions and the field bears what appear to be a row of incised V impressions. The ring has suffered much loss of surface with only the gilt face of the bezel surviving along with what must have been an incised line around its sides. The hoop is broken and bent.

Bezel and part of the hoop from a cast copper alloy finger ring. The bezel bears a cast decoration which is difficult to interpret but may represent an animal, facing left. Four legs can be seen but there is no sign of a head. On the back are four, short, angled lines which could represent bristles. This object is likely to be Roman and the animal can be paralleled on Celtic coins. However, animals like this are also known from Anglo-Saxon sceattas and a later date cannot be excluded, particularly as this find came from an area that produced material of this date. This find has bee…

Fragment from the bezel of a copper alloy finger ring. Flattened D section with a recess, now empty, for a gem. The setting was surrounded by a ring of circular punch marks and there was a line of similar punch marks across the width of the hoop. These were separated by a panel which contained motifs which cannot now be interpreted. It appears that there were circumferential rings of punch marks around the hoop.
