Cast copper alloy figurine of a fish of probable Roman date. The fish is carefully executed with clearly marked features: the eyes are large, represented by a 3.2mm diameter x 1.4mm deep hole in which there is a smaller central cavity. Around the eyes are annular recesses which appear to the been divided by radial ribs. It is possible that the eyes were decorated with enamel inlay. Roman (probably) lead figurine, perhaps of Priapus, now heavily worn with only the broadest details visible. The figure is flat backed and appears to be on an integral plate which extends beyond the it sides. The head is rounded and smooth, the legs are shown, the right one perhaps slightly advancing. It is difficult to see details of the arms but they appear folded. Length 38.5, Width 12.4mm, Thickness 7.0mm, Mass 20.51g. Figures like this are difficult to date but this object resembles a series of flat backed figures of Priapus (LEIC-C96B33; SWYOR-A153A2; LVPL-D9A6B5 and WAW-B5A6B8)…

Roman lead figurine of Priapus, this is carefully modelled in three dimensions which is unusual for a lead Priapus as other examples, (LEIC-C96B33; SWYOR-A153A2; LVPL-D9A6B5 and WAW-B5A6B8) have flat backs. On this example the back, buttocks and thighs are accurately shown. Little of the face survives and the phallus is truncated, this may be due to use: a copper alloy priapic figure is known on which these features are worn, probably by touching as a safeguard against the evil eye. The arms are folded across the upper abdomen and do not reach down to the phallus as on other examples. …
