Object type: BROOCH
Broad period: ROMAN

Roman brooch fragment, too little surviving to allow classificaton but its pointed end would be appropriate for a number of first and second century Colchester derivative types. On the underside of the fragment is the catch plate which has been bent flat. The fragment has a flat, keel-shaped section the start of the bow being marked by two transverse mouldings flanking a larger moulding. Length 26.0mm, Width 9.1mm, Thickness 3.1mm, Mass 2.41g.
