A steelyard weight, possibly Roman, of lead with an iron core to probably aid in suspension. The object is bell-shaped, flared at the base but solid, the iron central section projecting at the top. This projection is now broken, but originally probably terminated in a loop. The object is covered evenly in white and beige lead corrosion products, except for a large gash that may have been cause by ploughstrike.

Cast copper alloy handle possibly of Roman period manufacture (1st -2nd Century) Almost circular loop which is attached to a stud and rotates through 180 degrees. The stud would probably have connected to a vessel. The handle appears well made and displays a nice light green patina. The loop is decorated and appears to be zoomorphic with possibly two serpent heads.

An unidentified cast copper-alloy probable vessel rim of Roman to Medieval date. Whilst quite corroded and with what appears to be an extensive amount of the object missing, there are some details that give a clue to a possible age; the outer curvature is uneven and is divided into one area decorated with around six striations and another flatter areas that is undecorated. The inner part of the curve is concave and scooped into two uneven gullies. Both the ends and the upper and lower surve edges are ragged, indicating this is a broken part of a much larger object.

An unidentified cast copper-alloy shaft-like object, possibly Roman, with an oval cross-section, tapering at both ends and with a definite thickening at the middle. The surface is corroded and covered in a layer of verdigris. Both ends appear to terminate in breaks, and one is distinctly curved, though whether this was the object's original state or post deposition damage is uncertain. The central, thickened part has two busts in shallow relief, positioned on opposite sides of the shaft. Both appear to have a bowl-like haircut and to be wearing fabric at their shoulders; one in pre…

The object is mainly circular in cross-section tapering at one end to a straight-ended flattened delta and at the other to a rounded point, the tip of which is now slightly bent and appears worn. Two sides of the object bear what appear to be casting lines.

An unidentified copper-alloy object, possibly Roman and also possibly part of a fastening or fitting. The object is a long curvilinear cylinder, near-ovoid in cross-section, one end of which is clearly an old break and the other is possibly a zoomorphic head. Five rings are arranged serially behind it across the deepest curved section. A knop, possibly also zoomorphic but most likely foliate, projects out above a depression.

A copper alloy object that is, or closely resembles, a writing stylus, possibly Roman through to Medieval in date. These objects were used for recording information as linear scratches into a soft material such as wax before the widespread availability of cheap paper and inks. This particular example has fared badly in the soil, and is of uneven surface and ragged ends.

A copper alloy object, possibly a strap fitting of some type. The design resembles some roman military strap fittings featured in Appels and Laycock (2007) but does not correspond closely to any of them and may possibly date from an Iron Age to Medieval date. The object consists of two plates that are joined and separated by an internal piece resembling a compressed ring with a central supporting bar at its centre. The upper plate is bowtie-shaped and divided into three regions, each of which is roughly centred with a spiral. These spirals appear to be attached as separate elements th…

A possible Roman strap end of the later Roman period (200-300 AD). The object is composed of iron and consists of an ovoid centre with projections on the Y axis. The upper projection is a rectangular loop with two thick parallel nubs above. The lower projection is demarcated at the top by three conjoined rings encircling the shaft. The projection terminates in a 'nail cleaning' bifurcation. The presence of the 'nail cleaning' end is common on Roman strap ends of this period, though few examples of this type have been recorded on the PAS database.
