Fragment of a copper alloy Colchester derivative, Polden Hill brooch (Hattatt 1987, 6) dating AD75-175. The spring is still in place, held by an axial bar. The wings are tubular and semi-circular in cross section. The head of the brooch rises up from the wings and tapers downwards forming the bow of the object. The hook at the back of the head, which would have held the spring in place, is. The bow is damaged but appears to be The bow is broken and the pin and catchplate are missing. Copper alloy nummus of the House of Valentinian, Reece Period. 19 (364-78 AD). Wear of the coin make identification difficult but either Valentinian I, Valens or Gratian will be on the obverse. The field marks on the reverse (OF/III) probably make it a product of the Arles mint, first or second issue periods (364-75 AD). Reverse has Victory advancing left with wreath and branch and the legend SECVRITAS REI PVBLICAE.

The spring is contained within a cylinder with a slot for the pin; the ends are closed. The head of the brooch rises up from the wings and tapers downwards the foot forming the bow of the object. Fragment of a cast copper alloy Hod Hill type brooch dating to the late Iron Age or early Roman Period (c43-75 AD). The tab projecting from the upper edge of the head has been rolled in order to form a hollow cylinder through which the axis bar would have fitted. The bar is missing but the central slot for the pin is still visible. The headplate, which is sub rectangular in shape, is decorated with three vertical, parallel grooves. Cast copper alloy jug lid of Roman date (100-300 AD). The lid is heart shaped in plan, with two cast projections on the upper side. One of these projections is on top of the lid and is rectangular. The conical, vertical, projection from this provides a method of opening the lid. The second projection is from the edge of the lid and would original have formed part of a hinge. An example from Lincolnshire (LIN-6C2E02) clearly has part of a loop surviving at this point, but that is missing on this example from Shropshire. The underside of the lid is plain and undecorated.

Fragment of a cast copper alloy Wroxeter (trumpet derivative) brooch with a Polden Hill spring attachment, dating to the 2nd century AD. The brooch has a distinctive D shaped head the edge of which is decorated with a rope-effect band. The lateral lugs, only one of which survives, are perforated. These would have held the axis bar on which the spring would have been supported. The spring and axis bar are now missing.
