A complete copper-alloy Roman finger-ring of a Henig Type I set with a stone intaglio possibly dating to the Republican period, i.e. 1st century BC (Henig pers comm). The hoop of the ring is circular in shape with a circular shaped setting. The stone appears to be some form of chalcedony and is a pale grey colour. The hoop increases in width and thickness towards the shoulders and bezel. An incomplete copper alloy bow brooch of the Wirral type dating to the Roman period (100-200AD) The object is a hinged example. The head is stepped as is typical of this type with a complete head loop. The upper bow is decorated with three vertical panels which would have contained cells of coloured enamel. The cylindrical wings are abraded but do not appear to have been decorated. The bow is sub-circular in section. The fragment has a pale green patina with very little original surface surviving. Copper alloy zoomorphic terminal, probably a key hand, of Roman date (c. 43-410AD). The handle is complete but the iron key shaft and bit do not survive. The handle takes the form of a crouching lion depicted in the round. The animal is missing its tail, which is replaced by a square collar from which extends the corroded remains of the iron shaft of the key. The socket into which the stem would have fitted takes the form of a 3-peteled flower which covers the lion’s hind legs. The animal’s forelegs are tucked underneath the head and mane. Incomplete Roman disc and trumpet type brooch dating mid to late 3rd century AD (c.200-300AD ). The trumpet head is recessed to hold a spring, which is now missing. This is decorated with two circular motifs or “eyes”. Only part of the head loop survives. There is an upright circular plate on the bow on which is mounted a raised area inset with enamel.
