Cast lead alloy anthropomorphic mount of probable Roman date, likely 1st - 5th centuries AD. It is possibly an escutcheon or vessel mount. The mount is sub-circular, and forms the shape of a human face with an open mouth and lips forming a sub-ovoid. The cheeks of the face are squared, and the eyes are formed from two moulded pellets. The nose is raised and ovoid in shape, tapering toward the top. There is moulded relief on the forehead in the shape of an inverted triangular diadem or helmet with a decorative pellet in the centre.
