A complete but bent and distorted cast copper-alloy pin dating to the Roman period, c. 43-300 AD. This example is of Cool's (1990) group 5, 'pins with simple grooved heads'. The pin itself is circular-sectioned, tapering to a sharp point, Its head is plain but topped with a pointed element created by the incising of a deep transverse groove, aside from this feature the pin itself is plain and undecorated. An incomplete cast copper-alloy bow brooch dating to the Roman period, c. 43-100 AD. This example is of Colchester Derivative rearhook type, the lower bow, pin and part of the head missing in old breaks. It demonstrates a semi-circular sectioned winged head (the wing-tips missing) with a rearward facing hook projecting from its midpoint on the reverse face of the object. The bow is 'D' shaped in section and curves strongly in profile, the bow demonstrating a central recessed fluting that extends down its midpoint until the brooch truncates in old damage. A small assemblage of ceramic tile dating to the Roman period, c. 43-410 AD. The group consists 17 small to large size fragments, of which five are pieces of tegula, four imbrex, six combed hypocaust 'box flue' fragments and two indeterminate smaller pieces. All are a bright orange colour and heavily abraded. Combined weight: c. 2000g.
