An incomplete fragment originating from a Quernstone of late Iron Age or Roman date, c. 1-160 AD. The grinding face of the fragment is smooth and slightly concave, while the upper section is highly irregular due to breakage. It has been manufactured from puddingstone, a distinctive conglomerate containing rounded red flint pebbles within a siliceous matrix, the main sources of which lie in Hertfordshire. Preserved in fairly fresh condition, it survives to a length of 88.47mm, 50.38mm thick, and weighs 364g.
