Fragment of a Roman copper alloy brooch, probably a headstud type, dating to the period c. AD 75 - 150. Only the foot remains. It comprises a short section of the lower bow with the stub of the catchplate projecting from the reverse. The knobbed foot exhibits a recess at the bottom which retains traces of enamel arranged in a series of concentric circles. The outer circle appears to be black or brown, within is a circle of white enamel and a central recess which would have probably also contained enamel.
