An incomplete copper alloy Brooch of Roman date (AD 50-80). The object is a Colchester derivative  brooch with a hinge mechanism. The object is composed of tubular wings with perforations at each end to accommodate the axis bar. At the centre of the back of the wings is a rectangular notch through which the now missing pin would have projected. The head is hump-like in profile. The object is decorated with three incised bands between which are repeating transverse grooves. The head of the bow is decorated with a raised longitudinal ridge down the centre of the bow. …
