A ceramic base sherd from a Roman Samian ware vessel dating to the period c. AD 120 - 260. The sherd consists of a circular foot ring with the remains of the floor of the vessel projecting to the start of a shallow angle from the top of the foot ring and terminating in old breaks around the entire circumference. The fabric is a buff orange colour but is a bit patchy on the underside which is not fully oxidised. It is hard and exhibits frequent micaceous inclusions. The vessel has been coated in a dark orange slip which has been heavily abraded in places. A maker's stamp is visible …

The centre of the base rises into a cone with a maker's stamp [G]ENITORF impressed across the top of the cone at the centre of the interior of the vessel. An incomplete Roman ceramic black-burnished 2 (BB2) vessel dating from AD 160-250. This is form IIF8 everted-rimmed jar with cavetto rim and vertical lines. The exterior of the vessel is burnished from the rim to the shoulder, the body is decorated with a panel with ten groups of vertical incised lines spaced at even intervals around the circumference of the jar, eight of the groups have four lines, one has six and another seven lines.
