Description: The hoard consists of two silver denarii of the second century AD. The first coin is a denarius of Trajan, dating to AD 103-111. There are some irregularities caused by wear in the perimeter of this coin and its faces are worn, but there is no major damage. The second is a denarius of Antoninus Pius dating to AD 140-143. This coin has a small chip at the 6 o'clock position and is slightly worn but is otherwise undamaged. Discussion: The lack of any other Roman material in this field or adjacent ones, the rarity of denarii in this area, the proximity of findspots and t…

A hoard of 285 Roman coins dating to the period AD 270 - 402. The hoard comprises 3 radiates and 282 nummi. The coins were discovered using a metal detector in a field laid to grass which was regularly disturbed. They were removed from the field by the finder. The finder reports they were in a concentrated area 2 foot by 2 foot and within the topsoil. The topsoil is shallow at this point and very stony. Although the coins were in a concentrated area they were not in a discrete group, coins were separated from each other by soil and by stones suggesting some fairly strong disturbanc…
