VENVS VICTRIX type with a reverse depicting Venus bare to waist, standing left, holding apple and palm and resting left elbow on shield: at her feet left Cupid. Minted at Rome. RIC IV, part 1, no. 369. Two small spots of copper-alloy corrosion product on the edge could be explained by the fact that denarii of this period only had about 50% silver.

A damaged and incomplete cast copper-alloy mount, possibly a propeller shaped belt stiffener of late Roman date. The mount consists of a central circular element (diameter 16.4mm) flanked to one side by a sub-rectangular tab. There is a transverse break at the circumference of the roundel where a possible equivalent tab might have emerged.
