A faceted Late Roman copper-alloy octagonal bead. The bead is octagonal in cross-section, expanding toward the centre and narrowing toward the ends. It has a fairly even grey-green patina. It measures 25.9mm long and up to 8.8mm wide. It is 1.2mm thick and weighs 4.52g. The object is similar in form to the object recorded as NCL-DF1D13 on this database. A damaged fragment from a copper-alloy strip bracelet of late Roman date (c. 4th century AD). The artefact is elongated and sub-rectangular in plan. In profile it has been bent upwards at one end and downwards at the other, distorted from its original curve. The bracelet fragment is decorated unifacially with punched ring-and-dot motifs. These are set within a so-called 'wave crest' motif, the wave crests created by alternating notches, slightly offset, on the upper and lower edge. A fragment of a Roman copper-alloy bracelet, possibly cut down for reuse as a finger ring. The fragment is bent into a tight C-shape, with its width gradually tapering from one possible original terminal end. The bracelet fragment is decorated on the upper surface with two sets of diagonal lines each emerging from an incised line that runs down the centre of the bracelet, giving the appearance of nested Vs. A body fragment from an early Roman copper-alloy wide-cuff bracelet. The fragment is broadly rectangular, broken at both ends. It has a very shallow curve in profile, exaggerated at one end presumably due to post-depositional damage. In cross-section it is thin and rectangular. The upper surface is decorated longitudinally by an incised border at both edges, within which a grooved channel. A twisted fragment consisting of approximately a quarter of a cast copper-alloy bracelet or armlet of late Roman date (c. 4th century AD). A fragment of briquetage of Roman date. The briquetage, coarse ceramic material, is irregular in shape with only one surviving original flat surface. This latter is more oxidised than the core and bears imprints possibly of organic material. Briquetage is the name for coarse fired ceramic objects, evaporating vessels and supporting pillars, used in the production of salt. There is a known saltworks at East Huntspill and therefore unsurprising that this fragment was found here. A complete copper-alloy Roman plate brooch of c. 2nd century AD date. The brooch is broadly circular, though slightly angular, with sides that tend towards being straight between four lobed knops located one at each cardinal point. The brooch is decorated with three concentric circular grooves, divided by circles of the same height as the circumference. Probable traces of enamel are apparent within the grooves, as with the lobed knops which are each recessed, but not enough survives to be able to reconstruct a colour scheme. A fragment from a cast copper-alloy Roman bow brooch of 1st to 2nd century AD date. The fragment consists of the lower bow and the foot, including the catch-plate. The bow has a flattened circular cross-section. It narrows and thickens seamlessly into the triangular catch-plate. The catch-plate has bent bent slightly to one side and the fold been abraded. The artefact has a variable mid/dark-green patina. One may note that this seamless transition from bow to foot is a characteristic of T-shape brooches such a definitive classification has not been given here pending further work.

A fragment from a cast copper-alloy Roman bow brooch of probable 1st century AD date. The fragment consists of the head and beginnings of the upper bow; the rest of the brooch has been lost to old damage. The head is formed of a chunky cylinder seemingly with closed ends. Each end is perforated for the iron axis bar, now corroded. At its centre the head of the pin survives as a vestige within the pin slot. The tips of the wings are decorated with a double ridge.
