A lid formed of thick lead sheet with oval domed centre of probably Roman date. The sheet has been cut broadly into a rectangular shape. It is thick at c. 3-4mm. A large sub-oval dome has been formed at the centre from hammering from one side. It attains a height of c. 45mm and measures c. 200mm by max. width c. 125mm; one side tapers and it is c. 110mm at the narrower end. The lid was attached by iron rivets, 15 in total, that follow the edge of the dome rather than the lid overall. They are generally evenly spaced, though with a cluster towards one corner.
