A fragmentary cast copper alloy T-shaped brooch of early Roman date. Present is the head, with broken pin, and upper bow; the lower bow, including leg and catch-plate, are missing. The head is formed of cylindrical wings with a central slot. The wings contain the copper-alloy axis bar for the hinged pin, viewable within the slot. The head of the copper-alloy pin, with spur, is still in the slot; only the beginnings of the rest of the pin survives in addition, bent to one side. A complete Roman copper alloy finger ring with black glass intaglio. The bezel is widened and flattened; the shoulders are also relatively wide before tapering to a thin hoop around half way down the sides (min. W.: 2.8mm). There are some abrasions to the edges of the hoop and a recess formed through corrosion on the underside of the bezel. The bezel is very slightly raised in around the setting. The intaglio is bevelled externally leaving a flat oval central zone with design set in. The design (on the intaglio) is of a human figure, probably female, seated left and turned to the view…
