A complete Roman copper alloy finger ring with black glass intaglio. The bezel is widened and flattened; the shoulders are also relatively wide before tapering to a thin hoop around half way down the sides (min. W.: 2.8mm). There are some abrasions to the edges of the hoop and a recess formed through corrosion on the underside of the bezel. The bezel is very slightly raised in around the setting. A lid formed of thick lead sheet with oval domed centre of probably Roman date. The sheet has been cut broadly into a rectangular shape. It is thick at c. 3-4mm. A large sub-oval dome has been formed at the centre from hammering from one side. It attains a height of c. 45mm and measures c. 200mm by max. width c. 125mm; one side tapers and it is c. 110mm at the narrower end. The lid was attached by iron rivets, 15 in total, that follow the edge of the dome rather than the lid overall. They are generally evenly spaced, though with a cluster towards one corner.
