A near complete copper alloy Roman Trumpet brooch dating from AD 100-200. The bow of the brooch has an angular profile and an angular D shaped cross section. The bow tapers from a flared head to an abraded point, the foot knop is lost. The head of the brooch is complete, oval in plan, and tapers into the bow. The reverse of the head is concave and has a cast projecting bar which divides the head into two parts. The bar is broken and abraded and the spring and pin are lost. The fragment consists of the upper ornamental openwork key handle, and part of the socketed junction which would have joined to the iron shank. The key fragment is irregular in plan and profile. A complete early Roman sprung Colchester derivative brooch, of Harlow type dated to the period AD 43 - 150. The brooch is complete and well preserved. The spring is held within by D sectioned short wings with transverse ribs at their apexes. It is attached to the brooch through two pierced holes through a central projecting rib - in the Harlow variant. Rim sherd of a relatively thin walled coarseware pottery vessel. The sherd dates to the Roman period (50 - 410) and conforms mostly to the local 'Severn Valley' like wares. The fabric is relatively soft with a number of angular and sub-angular quartz, grit and ironstone inclusions. The fabric also contains considerable inclusions of mica / sand. The fabric colour is a uniform mid orange colour. A suggested diameter of the rim is 16cm, and the sherd represents 6% of the rim. The height or capacity of the vessel cannot be estimated. An incomplete copper alloy hinged two-piece Colchester derivative (Dolphin) brooch of Roman date (43-150AD). The wings are complete and cylindrical.
