An incomplete copper alloy Bow and Fantail brooch of Roman date, c.AD 50-150. Mackreth 2011, Colchester Derivative, Hinged, Type CD H 7.b2 (The Fantail Foot), Plate 59, no.12154. An incomplete copper-alloy Aucissa brooch of Roman date, c.AD 43 - 75. Mackreth Type 2: AVCISSA. The head of the brooch is formed from a flat, rectangular panel which splits into two at the back and rolls up and round to form the integral hinge which would have held the pin mechanism. An incomplete copper alloy headstud variant brooch of Roman date. The head of the brooch is comprised of wide rectangular wings with stepped decoration to the front surface. The reverse of the head is tubular consisting of two integral lugs which house an axis bar around which the worn remains of a pin loop is hinged. An incomplete copper alloy nail cleaner of Late Roman flat-bladed (Group). The blade is a pointed leaf shape, tapering gently from rounded shoulders to terminate in an old, worn break. A rounded collar is present at the upper end of the blade from which a circular suspension loop projects at right angles to the plane of the blade. the blade is decorated with a border of incised pellets on both surfaces. The metal has a mid green patina and is worn. The nail cleaner is 38.8mm long, 11.4mm wide, 3.9mm thick and weighs 4.2g.
