An umbonate plate brooch, of Roman dating (100 - 250 AD). The brooch is sub circular in plan, with three incomplete projecting knops protruding from the edge. The body of the brooch is domed in profile and this is decorated with a central circular cell surrounded by two concentric rings of triangular cells which originally would have held enamel. The inner and outer rings circle consists of 14 triangular cells each. A thin rim is present around the edge of the outermost circle. Probable Roman finger ring (1st to 4th century): Only the bezel and shoulders remain, the hoop is missing and the breaks are possibly recent. The bezel is oval in plan and has a large cell which contains a white paste. The edges of the cell are abraded and may have been deeper than it is now and the original setting is now missing. The upper and lower faces of the bezel are decorated with two clusters of three high-relief pellets. The shoulders are decorated with a cluster of six larger high-relief pellets.
