A fragment from the head and bow of a cast copper alloy Roman trumpet brooch dating from AD 75 - 175.
All that remains of the brooch is the head of the brooch which is circular in plan with an integral loop and the mid section of the bow. The foot terminates in a broken and rounded point. There is no evidence of the catch plate or foot of the brooch. The decoration on the bow consists of a swollen moulded D shaped in profile raised moulding which is decorated above and below by a single recessed groove on the front of the bow only. The reverse side is flat and smooth.
