A copper alloy nail possibly dating from the Roman period to the Medieval period (AD 43-AD500) although more likely dating to the Roman period. The nail is square sectioned with a convex circular globular shaped head. The body of the nail tapers to a blunted square sectioned terminal. The shaft tapers at an angle rather than straight. An incomplete cast copper-alloy 'Door Knob' spear butt of Roman or Early Medieval date, c. 200-300 AD or 500-600 AD. The object consists of a hollow sub-conical butt-end with a sub-circular rim, which tapers into a hollow open-ended cylindrical shaft which has a broken terminal. In profile the butt has straight walls until it flares out forming a bulbous base with rounded sides and a slightly flattened base which is damaged on the rim.
