A near complete cast copper alloy Colchester derivative (Polden Hill style) brooch, Mackreth 2011, 4.a-4.b, 4c, Plate 46, of Roman date (AD 80-120). The brooch survives well apart from a missing pin. In plan, the brooch is almost T-shaped, and D-shaped in cross section. The bow head is hump-like, and angular (comma shaped) in profile, with cylindral wings projecting from either side at the top which are perforated. An incomplete brooch of cast copper alloy Colchester derivative (Polden Hill style), Mackreth 2011, 4.a-4.b, 4c, Plate 46, of Roman date (AD 80-120). The wings are semi-cylindrical with the left hand side wing and cap missing. The axis bar, spring, pin, catchplate and foot are all lost. The spring would have been held by an external chord that attached to a rearward facing hook which is partially intact at the centre of the wings on the upper edge. An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman gilded disc (oval) brooch with dark black glass inset, probably dating to (3rd to 4th CenturiesAD). The brooch is oval in plan with a large centrally set conical paste or black glass 'gem'. Around the gem the metalwork has been gilded. On other examples this area has been decorated, however this example appears to be undecorated. The outer rim is slightly raised.
