An incomplete late Roman/ Early-Medieval (AD 400-600) penannular brooch of Fowler's Type D and Booth's type D2. The frame is sub-circular, and oval in cross-section. The pin is missing. The brooch is made from a single cylindrical piece of copper alloy that has been bent into a circle, with the outer edges bent back to form terminals lying flat against the frame. The terminals each have a pair of incurved facets on their top edges and a groove across each end, forming what looks like a very stylised animal head (Booth, 2014, 148: type D2). A Roman copper alloy Trulla or pan handle dating to the second century AD. The pan handle consists of a single flat piece of copper alloy. The handle has a curved upper edge with a large semi-circular perforation. The curve of the perforation mirrors the curve of the upper edge of the handle. A fragment of a copper alloy, Roman Polden Hill type brooch dating to (c.AD75-AD175). The fragment consists of the bow and head of the brooch. The spring, pin, foot and catchplate are missing. The bow head is hump-like, and slightly angular (comma shaped) in profile. The bow tapers to a broken terminal that would have formed the foot and catchplate on the reverse. The object has a light to mid-green coloured patina. Bayley and Butcher (2004:160) comment that the distribution of Polden Hill brooches are concentrated in the West Midlands. A Roman silver denari of Quintus Caecilius Metellus Pius (c. 130 BC - 63 BC) dating to 81 BC (Reece period 1) Reverse type depicting the jug and litus. Mint of Northern Italy. The flan on which the coin is struck coin measures 2.1 mm, this is perhaps thicker than regular examples. (RRC (1974:p.390) no. 374.2. The issue was produced by Quintus Caecilius Metellus Pius, serving as a Sullan commander in the fight against Carrinas, Norbanus and Carbo. The reverse type may have a Sullan as well as a family significance (RRC 1974).

A copper alloy 'umbonate' style plate brooch of early Roman date (100-250 AD). The brooch has been eroded on the outer edges, probably recently in the ploughsoil and is no longer complete. An incomplete copper alloy Roman brooch of Colchester derivative Polden Hill (flat wing ends type, West Midlands), c.f. Mackreth 2011, 4.d. Plate 47.
