A copper alloy 'umbonate' style plate brooch of early Roman date (100-250 AD). The brooch has been eroded on the outer edges, probably recently in the ploughsoil and is no longer complete. The pin and catchplate are missing. The brooch is broadly circular in plan and 'D' shaped in profile. The brooch has a pronounced angular conical central boss which is surmounted by two incomplete sub-rectangular projections, one on the upper edge, and the other on the lower. An incomplete fragment from the head and upper bow of a cast copper alloy Roman trumpet brooch dating from AD 75 - 175. The fragment of the brooch is distorted with the bow being further bent and distorted - probably deliberately in antiquity. The head of the brooch is oval in plan. The reverse of it is divided by a vertical rectangular bar which is pierced at the mid-point. It is through this hole that the spring / pin would have been fixed. Both the pin and spring are lost. A near complete cast copper alloy Colchester derivative (Polden Hill style) brooch, Mackreth 2011, 4.a-4.b, 4c, Plate 46, of Roman date (AD 80-120). The brooch survives well apart from a missing pin. In plan, the brooch is almost T-shaped, and D-shaped in cross section. A copper alloy Roman sestertius of Faustina Junior (AD 147-175) as Diva under the reign of Marcus Aurelius, dating to AD 176-180 (Reece period 8). The coin is very fine and the obverse clearly shows the bust facing right, draped and veiled. The obverse inscription reads: DIVAE FAVSTIN.AVG. [MATR CASTROR]. The reverse shows a funeral pyre with Faustina draped on the summit. The reverse inscription reads [CONSECRATIO] S.C RIC III, p. 350, no. 1709.
