Copper alloy possible surgical implement. A cast square section tapered shank, bent sharply [?by plough strike?] at its broader end, and expanded very slightly at its flattened tip, which forms a round-ended spatulate blade. This resembles a post-medieval nail fragment, but the terminal would not have survived use as such and is so neatly formed as to suggest deliberate manufacture in this form; there is also a fine dark patina overall - except at the broken end.
