A copper-alloy Post Medieval farthing trade token of the Ipswich Town Corporation, dated to 1670 on the reverse. As Williamson, 1967: p.1084, no.158. Farthing trade tokens were first issued in 1648 as a response to the lack of small change, with halfpenny tokens following in 1656. They were suppressed in 1674 under Royal Authority. Several identical tokens have been recorded in SF-76F26C from Tattingstone, Suffolk; SF-F8B2F7 from Roydon, Norfolk and DUR-B99F86 from Hinderwell, North Yorkshire.

The obverse depicts the Mercer's Arms within a square shield which is a crowned female bust or 'maid's head' which is attributed to 'Queen Agnes' (see notes). Copper farthing token of Richard Scaddan (spelled SCADDAM on token) of Ludgvan. Williamson, 1967, p.102, no.43 refers to this token being issued by Richard Scaddan of Ludgvan who married Joan Cossen, both described as of Penzance, at Stowford in Devon in October 1647. The name is spelled in different ways in the parish registers but apparently always with a final "n". The token is dated to 1666 on the obverse. See CORN-8BB990 for a similar token.

Copper alloy farthing token of Michell Russell of Smithick, Falmouth with the arms assigned to the Russell family of Falmouth, a chevron between three escallops, on the obverse. "The latter charge forms part of the coat of arms of the Russells, Dukes of Bedford. Michael Russell was one of the first aldermen named in the charter of Charles II, and was said to be a French refugee. Cast lead uniface token with a stylised fleur de lis on the obverse with a central cross with pellet terminals for the long arms and more pointed, arrow-shaped terminals for the short arms. The short arms are bisected by curved arms that also terminate in round pellets. The reverse of the token is blank. Bailey (2000) illustrates a lead token with a similar pattern on page 11, fig.2, which is dated from the 17th to the 18th century. Egan (2005) illustrates a lead token with a fleur de lis, with pellets above and beside it, on page 170, fig.165, no.920, which is dated from c.1630…

Copper alloy farthing trade token issued by Thomas Worth of Cornwall and dated to 1665 on the reverse. Thomas Worth was based in Penryn, and the Worths were a younger branch of the ancient family of Worth, of Worth in Devon, and bore the same arms of the double-headed eagle. William Worth, merchant of Penryn, died in 1689 and his son John was Sheriff of Cornwall in 1690 and 1711, and bought Tremough in 1703 (Williamson, 1967, Vol.1, 105, no.61). Copper alloy halfpenny trade token of the Salop Woolen Manufactory in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, dated to 1794 on the reverse. Salop was the Norman name for Shropshire, which was known for its high quality wool from the 13th century. Shrewsbury in particular thrived throughout the 16th and 17th centuries, largely due to the town's fortuitous location, which allowed it to control the Welsh wool trade. Copper alloy half penny of William Purchase of Thaxted, dated to 1666 on reverse. Thaxted is a Medieval town in Essex which is recorded as Tachesteda, Old English for "place where thatch was got" in the Domesday Book of 1086. Once a centre of cutlery manufacture, Thaxted went into decline with the rise of Sheffield as a major industrial centre. Copper alloy halfpenny trade token of John Voss, Draper from Swansea, dated to 1796 on the obverse. The obverse depicts Swansea castle with its tower, weather-vane and dressed-stone arcaded parapet, with the inscription SWANSEA HALFPENNY above. The reverse has a key with a bow chatelaine with the inscription JOHN VOSS DRAPER & Co. Tokens were issued because of a shortage of official small change and they appeared in the wage packets of the employees of the relevant firms and were widely circulated in restricted areas.
