A cast silver gilt looped portion of a post-medieval dress fastener.
The item is sub-triangular in shape and is formed of the head and wings of a cherub. Below the head is a large open D-shaped loop, into which the hook part of the garment fastener would slide. Above the head are two smaller sub-circular attachment loops, through which thread would pass to sew the fastener into a garment. Description: A complete three-piece discoidal silver button of post-medieval date, in very good condition. The button is biconvex and is hollow with two blow-holes on the lower hemisphere and separate soldered loop. The upper half of the button is decorated with an incised design of a four petalled flower around a central stamen. This is surrounded by a circular border along the button’s hemisphere which has hashed triangles in the gaps between each petal. The underside is plain with no evidence of a maker's mark.

Description: A complete silver scalloped mount, probably a strap fitting or dress fastener and dating to the early post-medieval period. The mount can be divided into two halves - the upper part is decorated with two scallop shells, with the rounded outer edges of the shells creating the outer edge of the mount with a slight groove dividing the shells. A complete silver octagonal button of later post-medieval date. The button has an engraved design of a four-petaled flower with smaller lobes around the main flower head. There is a scalloped linear emphasis around the outer edge of the button. On the reverse of the button is a silver loop, soldered on to the body. Many buttons of this type and with similar designs have been recorded on this database. As these button date from c. AD 1725-1800, they do not currently qualify as Treasure under the Treasure Act 1996. .

TREASURE CASE 2019 T181. Description: A fragment of a silver gilt Medieval to Post-Medieval 'Fide/Fede' type finger-ring dating from c. 1400 - 1600 AD. Only the bezel section of the ring remains and consists of clasped hands in the style of a 'fede' ring. The surface has been gilded. The reverse is concave with a small remnant of the hoop on one side but a jagged diagonal break through the other hand. The hoop is a probable 'D' cross-section. Treasure Case 2019 T185. Description. A complete but slightly bent silver vervel (hawking ring) of 17th century date. The vervel is of the 'washer' type (Lewis & Richardson Type A), being small and discoidal with a central circular void. The vervel has an inscription reading over both sides; + of charelton / in com Oxon ', meaning the owner of the bird resided in the place of Charelton in the County of Oxfordshire.
Dimensions: Diameter (external) 11.7mm; diameter (internal) 5.9mm. Thickness 1.1mm. Weight 0.7 grams.
