Post Medieval (16th century) knife cap: In plan the knife cap is a sub- rectangle which is rectangular with rounded corners in section. One terminal has a vertical slot traversing it, which holds traces of the iron tang. The opposite terminal has a horizontal groove. The corners of this terminal have been rounded and on each side face, at these corners, there is a circular cell. The surface of the knife cap is abraded and has a matte red/brown copper corrosion and a trace of dark green patina. In length the knife cap is 14.26mm long, 14.41mm wide and 6.64mm thick. Post Medieval (mid 17th century) powder flask cap: The lead cap is cylindrical with a sealed terminal, which has then been squashed. In plan the upper cap is sub-oval with a pellet in the centre and the lower edge of the walls is an irregular shape due to it being squashed. On the upper edge of the cap, above the casting seam, there is an integral loop on either side, one of which is incomplete. The surface of the cap is a smooth off-white colour. A lead or lead alloy sub-spherical ball probably a Post Medieval musket or pistol shot. The ball is sub-sphereical with a sprue trimming scar. It has a mid grey/cream patina which is incomplete. It measures 11.62mm diameter, and weighs 9.4g. Ball shot was the prime form of small arms projectile used from the very late Medieval Period to middle of the 19th century. A copper alloy Post Medieval strap fitting, in the form of a hook. The body of the strap fitting is a sub rectangle with concave lateral edges, and a convex upper narrow edge. The outer surface has moulded decoration in the form of scrolls, otherwise it is not clear. The body has three circular rivet holes forming a triangle. A sub-oval cast copper alloy curtain ring or loop, with a thick bi-trapezoid section with slightly rounded edges. In profile the loop is flat. The surface has a matte mid grey/green surface which is abraded. It measures 31.01mm long, 30.59mm wide and is 8.39mm thick. It weighs 4.1g. A cast copper-alloy strap fitting: a hooked plate from a post-medieval sword-belt fitting. The strap fitting is sub-triangular in plan with a moulded terefoil shaped upper edge and it has a horizontal collar at the base. The body of the fitting has two rivet holes, each filled with traces of an iron rivet. The outer surface is decorated with an elaborate scrolled foliage pattern. A cast copper-alloy double-looped buckle frame. The loops are of different shapes, one being trapezoidal and the other D-shaped. The outer edge of the D-shaped loop has an integrally cast sub-triangular projecting plate, with openwork decoration of two circular holes next to the loop and a lozenge-shaped hole at the apex.
