An incomplete iron 'lobster pot' helmet from the English Civil War. The helmet is formed of two plates folded over at the top. A triangular visor survives, but the bars are missing. The visor/peak is riveted to the helmet by a dome headed rivet on either side. The visor still moves. The tail survives largely intact, but is damaged in places. There are ten rivets set around the perimeter, six of which retain a rectangular washer of sheet copper alloy on the interior. An incomplete iron object, probably a two-prong table fork. The object has a handle of oval section which flares to a fluted end. A small shaft of rectangular section extends from the centre of this end. The other end of the handle tapers and flattens to what appears to have been a circular loop. The item may have been used as a leatherworking tool, and is possibly post-medieval in date. The item is 94mm in length and has a maximum diameter at the fluted end of 9mm. The handle tapers to 5mm x 6mm. The rectangular shaft measure 5mm x 4mm.

An iron orthpaedic horseshoe. The shoe is D-shaped in plan and has an additional rectangular bar extending across the middle. The bar rests on the lip of the shoe; corroded iron rivets are visible to other side - perhaps originally five on each side. The dating of this shoe is uncertain. Medieval examples are known (Clark, J., 1995. The Medieval Horse and its Equipment c.1150 - c.1450 (London : HMSO), 81, 86, fig 59d and 64a); as are post-medieval and modern examples (Dollar and Wheatley, 1898: 381, fig 354). A post-medieval iron 'ball' padlock. The padlock has a spherical body with a large oval loop above. The loop is corroded, but one end has a curved, shallow 'S'-shaped terminal. A tear-drop shaped patch of corrosion in the centre of one side might indicate where the opening for the key originally was. The diameter of the ball is 45mm. The loop is 50mm wide, and 8mm thick. Similar 'ball' padlocks have been found in excavations at Jamestown, USA (Cotter, J. & Hudson, P. 1957 New Discoveries at Jamestown: Site of the First Successful English Settlement in America. A damaged iron knife. The knife has a tapering integral tang. The back of the tang is flush with the back of the blade. The blade edge is missing, but the shape is elongated and the tip is missing. The knife is now bent at the point where blade meets tang. Possibly Anglo-Saxon, but probably much later.

An incomplete iron wire hooked tag. The object comprises an iron tang wrapped in strands of silver or tin wire. Iron corrosion is located at either end of the object indicating where the hooked terminals extended. This type of wire hooked tag has been erroniously attributed to the Anglo-Saxon period however they actually date to the early post-medieval period. For similar examples see Brian Read, Hooked-clasps and eyes, (Somerset: Portcullis Publishing, 2008), pp. 142-149.
