A possible fragment of a large post-medieval crotal bell. The fragment is from the body of a large spherical object which is decorated on the exterior with moulded fish scales. It is possible that this is from the lower half of a crotal bell, such as BH-B72FA0. The relatively large size of the present example might preclude this identification, however.

The upper hemisphere has two circular holes. The lower hemisphere has two circular holes joined by a channel. Surrounding the channel is an incised sunburst design and the letters IH (or HI). See LEIC-A56F83 for a parallel for the initials.

Treasure case 2017 T191: an incomplete silver post-medieval whistle dating to the period c. AD 1500 - 1650. Only approximately one quarter of the tubular body survives. The surviving part is divided into two sections by a collar of coiled silver wire (known as 'cannetille'). To one side of this collar the tubular body is undecorated. The terminal flares in diameter, and this suggests that it is from the far-end of the whistle rather than the mouth-piece, the latter which tends to taper. The tubular frame to the other side of the collar is decorated with an ornate circle containing S-s…
