A copper-alloy (brass) 'Paduan' medallion of Caracalla (reigned AD 196-217), made by Giovanni da Cavino of Padua (lived AD 1500-1573). Diameter: 37mm; Weight: 37.96g; Die Axis: 8. It is quite possible that this is a cast made from one of Cavino's originals. The finder has cleaned the object. Obverse: M AVRELIVS ANTONINVS PIVS AVG BRIT P M TR P XVI; Laureate, draped and cuirassed right Reverse: IMP II COS IIII P P, S C; Emperor, holding sceptre, advancing right in quadriga Z. H.
