Probable copper alloy dagger cross guard/ quillon. This is one arm of the cross-guard and has a tapering square cross-section rod (11mm to 7mm) that ends in an expanded globular terminal. The opposite, ,wider, end would have attached to a central block through which the tang would have passed. The surface is heavily corroded but traces of gilding is still visible.
