The plate has a flared and scalloped open end. At the opposing end terminates in an old break. It is decorated in the centre with an annulet and three concentric rings. It comprises of  two unevenly proportioned parallel terminals projecting from a rounded bend, the longer end has broken in two. The longer terminal has a plano-convex cross section, which flares at the centre before tapering to a blunt point. There are a pair of transverse moulded ridges towards the bent end and below is decorated with a foliate design, where the fitting narrows it has broken into two pieces. A possibly incomplete Post-Medieval copper-alloy finger ring, dating to c.AD 1500 - 1750. The fingerring is formed of a circular hoop which is formed of a rectangular band. At its apex, the bezel narrows to a thin undecorated section. Either side at the shoulders, the band widens, the shoulders are decorated with an incised saltire and three horizontal bands. The hoop tapers slightly to the rear and is undecorated. Diameter: 19.5 mm Weight: 1.22 g It has been suggested that the bezel of the finger ring would have had a separetly soldered plate, this is now missing.

Inside the border is S.D/4:6 in two lines. This denotes four shillings and sixpence, to the value of an eighth of a Johannes gold coin. It is similar to a range of examples depicted in Withers and Withers 1995: 54.
