A silver struck two merk coin of James VI of Scotland (c. 1567-1625). These coins are also known as 'thistle dollars'. The coin is heavily clipped and much of the inscription is missing. It was minted before the King's accession to the English throne c. 1603. Spink, p 69, no 5480.
