A complete post medieval gold ‘love’ ring c.AD1500-1700. Description: The finger ring comprises a flat sectioned strip of gold forming the band, with a join below the bezel. The band is decorated on both sides with two rows of decoration in a ‘twisted rope’ form separated by a plain central ridge. Above and below are two further ridges to the edge of the band. The bezel is in the form of a figure-of-eight knot, comprising a gold strip with similar decoration to the band: two rows of twisted gold wire with a plain ridge above and below. Description: A complete gold, gem-set 'momento mori' finger ring dating to the post-medieval period, AD 1680–1720. The finger ring has a circular, D-sectioned plain hoop, with no maker’s marks or engravings on the interior of the band. A complete Posie or Posy finger ring, with makers mark, dating to the post-medieval period (c.AD1751-85). The ring is composed of a simple gold hoop with a D-shaped cross-section. The outside is not decorated, although it is dull and scratched. The inside of the ring has an inscription in an italic script that reads "Love is the bond of peace". There is a maker's mark at the start of the inscription with the letters S and T, in italic script, in a rectangular frame.
