A copper alloy finger ring dating to the post medieval period (c.AD1600-1800).
The ring has a thin delicate band, widening at the shoulders to an integral sub-rectangular bezel. The bezel is has a line of punched dots running around the edge forming a border and enclosing a series of conjoined curving lines. above and below the lines are two larger punched dots. It has not been possible to discern and recognisable pattern in the design (e,g, a letter or identifiable figure). A complete, but misshapen, cast copper alloy finger ring of probable post-medieval date.
The bezel is shield-shaped and has been soldered to the band. A join is visible at the solder point on the rear of the bezel, indicating the band was cast and folded to form the (now misshapen) hoop. Some patches of gilding remain on the surface of the finger ring, particularly in the vicinity of the bezel.
The metal has a mid brown patina, with patches of active green copper corrosion evident.
