An incomplete copper alloy blunt hooked post medieval dress fastener (c.AD1550-1650)
Class: Read Class A, Type 2
The object is roughly triangular in form, with perforations at the upper edge adjacent to the projecting band, the end of which would have formed the hook, but is now broken. the lower apex of the triangle has a small, trailing projection, forming the remains of the third perforation. The object appears undecorated on both faces, but is rather corroded.

Description: A complete silver hat-hook, dating to the early post-medieval period (c.AD1500-1600).
The object comprises a solid silver plate soldered to an S-shaped sharp pointed hook. The silver plate has been cast in the form of a stylised dolphin (at least, in the heraldic form understood during the latter medieval period): the snub-nosed snout has a mouth beneath, and a single eye which is cut by a semi-circular line that separates the head from body, the latter almost cowl-like appearance.
