Obverse description: [illegible] Crowned bust facing left, two pellets behind head. Obverse inscription: E D G ROSA SINE SPINA.
Reverse description: Square shield on long cross fourchee. Reverse inscription: CIVI/[TAS]/LON/DON.
Both sides are worn, with the bust completely rubbed away (intentionally defaced / scratched?).
Dimensions: Weight: 0.96 g; Diameter: 16.39 mm.

A worn silver half groat of James I dating to the period 1603-1625, probably from the second coinage 1604-1619.

The coin has two small piercings at 1 and 2 o'clock close to the edge caused by wear.This may indicate a secondary function which would normally indicate that it should be considered as potential Treasure. However, since coins of this period with similar piercings appear in hoards of currency, it suggests that such objects could re-enter circulation as coins.
