A silver post medieval vervel of Lewis Richardson Type A dating from c. AD 1550-1700. Description:  Consisting of a flat ring with rectangular cross-section and central perforation, the ring is undecorated except for an inscription on both sides. One side reads  ‘+ AMBROS *’ with a looped first descender on the ‘A’, the other side reading ‘+ PVDSE *’. This name would be read as Ambrose Pudsey/Pudsay today. Description: A complete silver vervel (hawking ring), dating to the post-medieval period (c.AD1550-1650). The vervel comprises a circular hoop or band, rectangular in cross-section, soldered at the apex to a shield-shaped plate or bezel. Inscribed on the shoulders of the band to the left of the plate is the letter ‘H’, and to the right is the letter ‘K’. Description: A complete silver vervel (hawk ring) dating to the post medieval period, c. AD 1550-1700 The vervel comprises the band, D-shaped section, with applied shield. The outer surface of the band is inscribed 'S WYLL MMALL' (Sir William Mallory). The flat-topped shield has a stylised horse's head inscribed onto the surface.
