Reverse description: Square shield on long cross fourchee. Reverse inscription: CIVI/[TAS]/LON/DON.
Both sides are worn, with the bust completely rubbed away (intentionally defaced / scratched?).

The reverse depicts a crown over a shield-like border surrounding waves in lower portion with upper portion indistict - but very probably a rampant lion emerging out of water. The legend is illegible.

Legend differs from North 1997, in FR' (cf North: FRA) and HI (cf North HIB). Obverse bust is worn away but reverse is much less worn, so bust has been deliberately defaced and scratched.

A clipped post-medieval silver shilling of Charles I (1625-1649), probably minted at the Tower under Parliament. The initial mark is partially clipped and worn smooth, and is thus illegible. The obverse bust and reverse cross most closely match North (1991, 160) Group F ref:2231. This would date the coin to between 1641 and 1643.
Obverse: [.CAROLVS.D.G.MAG.BR.FR.ET.H]I.REX.; Crowned bust left with XII (mark of value) behind head
Reverse: .CHRISTO.AVSPICE.REGNO. (I reign under the auspice of Christ); Square topped shield over cross Moline
